William Earl Pike
(Pastor of MHBC from April, 1975 - July, 1980)
Rev. William Earl Pike was born in Taylor County, Ky. on July 12,
1929. He attended both, Taylor Co. and Campbellsville Schools.
On Nov. 8, 1944 he married Mary Louise Phillips. To this union
was born three children: Linda Money, William Earl Pike, Jr. and
Gary Lynn Pike.
Farming was his occupation during his early life until he was
called into the ministry in 1959. In the fall of that year (1959), he
enrolled in Campbellsville College and graduated in 1963 with a BA Degree. He
enrolled in the Southern Baptist Seminary in the fall of 1963 and graduated, with a
Master of Divinity Degree in 1966.
Bro. Pike was the pastor of Saloma Baptist Church, located in
Taylor Co., Ky. (1960-1966). Then he became pastor of Bloomfield
Baptist Church, located in Bloomfield, Ky. (1966-1975). He
accepted the call to become pastor of Muldraugh Hill Baptist
Church on April 13th 1975. The Pike family moved to the
pastorium on Monday, May 5, 1975 and he assumed the
pastorate on June 1, 1975. He served at MHBC until July 1980, at
which time he returned to Bloomfield Baptist Church.
Louise Pike died on October 6, 1997. Bro. and Mrs. Pike had been married 52 years.
Bro. Pike retired as pastor of Bloomfield Baptist Church in July, 1994 and from full-
time ministry. Since that time he has served as interim pastor at Pleasant Hill Baptist
Church and Palestine Baptist Church (both located in Taylor County, Kentucky).
Bro. Pike and Wanda Chesser were married December 12, 1998.
They resided at Mooresville in Washington County.
Bro. and Mrs. Pike were here for the 125th Anniversary of
Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church.
Bro. Pike and his wife, Wanda, visited MHBC to help celebrate
the 135th Anniversary of the church. He was the guest speaker
on Thursday, November 5, 2009 during the revival services. It
was great having him and Wanda back with us!
Our hearts were heavy upon learning of the death of Bro. William Earl Pike. He was a
faithful servant of God and was pastor of Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church from 1975
to 1980. He has returned for many special occasions and revivals since his service
here. He died early Sunday morning on June 9, 2013. The table below provides
