Sidney’s husband (Jesse), her children (Allie, Bailey, and Clare), and her Mother and Father-in-law (Betty and Roger Cox) stood at her side as members of the congregation filed by to congratulate her on this important decision and to welcome her and Lidiane as new members of Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mary Frances Skaggs upon her death on July 1, 2018 at the age of 78. She was the Aunt of Anita Lanham, Nettie Brown, and Tommy Farmer. Visitation: July 4, 2018 beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral: July 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, Ky in charge of details. MHBC had a great night out as a church family at the Evening Worship Service and Baptism of McKenzie Bagwell and surprise birthday party for Bro. Billy on July 1, 2018 on the farm of Donnie Veatch. It was estimated around 90 were in attendance. Thank you Donnie and Josh Veatch families for the use of their farm and their preparation in getting everything ready for the event (Josh said it took a week of weed eating). Bro. Billy said that he was truly surprised! A great night of fellowship with our church family! (See Pictures)The musicians of the church were recognized during the Morning Worship Service on July 1, 2018. Each pianist/organist was given a special gift of appreciation for his/her commitment and service over the years. Those recognized were: Wanda Buckler, Amanda Farmer, Annette Dennison, and Martha Whitehouse.David England was recognized but not present. Each were asked how many years he/she had been sharing their talents at church. The exact years were not known but Wanda and Martha voiced they had been playing the piano or organ since they were fourteen years of age. Lidiane Macedo was recognized as the new Minister of Music and also given a gift of appreciation. Jim Sabo, Sr. was recognized for his service as Minister of Music since 2006 (nearly 12 ½ years) of which he donated all his salary back to the church. He was given a plaque commemorating those years of service, a statue of a microphone and was shown a standing ovation from the congregation. There was a Music Ministry Appreciation Meal after the morning worship service. The church provided the meat, bread, drinks and the rest of the meal was potluck. What a great time of fellowship!Congratulations to Dustin and Allison Benningfield upon the birth of a daughter, Maggie Jean. She was born this past Wednesday on June 27th at 9:00 A.M. She weighed 8lbs 3oz and was 19 inches long.The Pastor Search Committee, on Sunday June 17, 2018, during the Morning Worship Service, gave a report of their work and made a recommendation that MHBC call Bro. Billy Compton to be our next pastor. The Committee will present this recommendation in the form of a motion at our next scheduled business meeting on July the 11, 2018, and if seconded, the church will be given a 1-week notice on Sunday July 15th of the upcoming vote on the call that we are extending to Bro. Billy. The vote will be taken on morning, July 22, 2018 from all members that are present. The Church Constitution and Bylaws requires a three-fourths majority in the affirmative to extend the call, and then Bro. Billy has the option to except the call based upon the vote. Please be in prayer for this important time in our church. Upon making the announcement, there was a standing ovation by most members of the congregation. McKenzie will be baptized on July 1, 2018 in the river on Don Veatch’s farm. Tracy Cochran, Avery Cochran, and Mckenzie Hardin stood with the family, representing AWANA, RAs and GAs as the family said these groups/teachers were a big part in helping them make their decisions. There were 61 “yes” votes and 35 “no” votes. The position was offered and accepted by Ms. Lidiane Macedo. She is very excited to begin her service at Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church! She has a Master in Music with emphasis on voice performance, has led various choirs, and prior to accepting the position with MHBC, was the Assistant Choir Director at First Methodist Church in Campbellsville. She is also employed as an Exceptional Child Education Instructional Assistant at Marion County Middle School. Jacklyn will be singing in the Kentucky Baptist Convention All-State Children’s Choir this weekend. We are proud of you and will support you with our prayers.There was a Concealed Carry Deadly Weapon (CCDW) class on Saturday, April 21, 2018 beginning at 8:00 a.m. Byron Richardson, with the Lebanon Police Department, will be the instructor of the class. The class was 7 hours long (6 hours class time plus 1 hour of range time). It was held at the Lebanon Police Department. Sixteen people participated in the class. The music was excellent, the fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ across the “hill” was great, the deserts were perfect, and the butterscotch pie was to die for. It was good to see so many friends that you know there. Bro. Jones took the pie in the face graciously and it was a night to remember.There is some talk about returning the favor in a month and sponsoring a “thank you” desert meal for them. Everyone met in the church Sanctuary before walking together to the cemetary.The annual Easter Egg Hunt was on Wednesday, March 28th at 6 P.M. The children and adults enjoyed sandwiches, snacks, and finger foods and a time of fellowship. Kids hunted eggs and heard the story of Easter. He was the brother of Shirley Farmer.We extend our Christian love and sympathy to the family of Marguerite Sallee upon her death on March 14, 2018 at the age of 94. She was the grandmother of Beth Veatch.Bro. Billy and Dr. James Jones of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (the Philistines), agreed to a March Gladness Sunday School Attendance Tournament that took place in the month of March! The tournament was played on the Sundays of March 11th, 18th, 25th, and April 1st. The two churches competed with Sunday School outreach and contacts that was scored and tabulated. Each class had their score cards tabulated each Sunday morning on an official score card. Each contact made that week was worth 2 points, and a visitor that is invited to Sunday School and came to the class on one or more of these three Sundays—was worth 3 points each!The winning church will be treated to a desert meal served to them by the opposing church on April 15, 2018. The opposing church’s pastor will also get a pie in the face! All the tabulation is being done to see which church as won the tournament. The event was lots of fun! It was a fun way to get folks to Sunday School to feast on the Word. The 4th Annual Couples Retreat took place on March 9-10, 2018 at Barren River Lake. It was a great time of fun and fellowship! There was an evening session on Friday night and two sessions on Saturday morning. Bro. Billy and Sue Ann led the group in this time of celebrating marriage.
