After graduating from Sullivan High School, Kingsport, Tennessee, he was immediately inducted into the Army in 1943, and was medically discharged during the same year. Upon returning to civilian life, he became employed in a Defense Plant in Kingsport. It was during this time that he met a young lady, Mildred J. Brother Hullette entered Clear Creek Baptist School in Pineville, Kentucky in January, 1946. In the following fall, he entered Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee and graduated three and one half years later with the AB Degree. Two years of college was financed by self employment in a popcorn business.

He entered the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in the Spring of 1950, and graduated with the BD Degree. While in the seminary, he and his wife did mission work in the bayous of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.

The Calvary Baptist Church in Algiers, Louisiana ordained him into the ministry on May 1, 1952 and called him a mission pastor of the Lower Coast Baptist Chapel in Algiers, Louisiana.

Returning to Tennessee in 1953, he became pastor of the Surgoinsville Baptist Church in Surgoinsville, Tennessee where he served for over two years.

In 1956, he was called to the West Liberty Baptist Church in West Liberty, Kentucky where he served for five years as County Missionary and pastor.

He returned to Tennessee in 1960 as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Whitesburg, Tennessee and remained on this field for four years.

In 1964, he accepted a call to become pastor of the Riverside Baptist Church in Four Mile, Kentucky and served there until coming to Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church in 1969.

Brother and Mrs. Hullette have five children. The oldest child, Cynthia Ann is a graduate of Georgetown College and resides in Cynthiana, Kentucky. Miles Rodney is stationed in the Canal Zone with the United States Army. Alan Rex, Connie Suzette, and Rita Gail reside with their parents and attend school in Lebanon, Kentucky.
